Libraries offer us a beacon of hope. Robert Hayes writes, "Libraries provide a haven in which citizens of every kind and every viewpoint can partake of the wisdom of the past and the information of today. They preserve the wonders of the books and they provide access to the wonders of the information technologies (26)."
